“The meeting of a sewing machine and an umbrella“
The series explores figures and objects emerging in surreal compositions that blur reverie and performance in the chance encounters and that Comte de Lautréamont likened to “the meeting of a sewing machine and an umbrella.”
These works trace the arc of fully hand-crafted image-making - from the alchemy of light on film to the tactile depth of photogravure on paper. The processes reveal not just an image, but the ghost of its coming-to-be.
Each frame becomes a room in an uncharted hotel, its doors half-open to scenes both intimate and impossible. Time folds in on itself – the image is neither the past nor present, but a suspended moment. The viewer wanders as a guest, moving from shadow to glare, from whispers to silence, collecting fragments of a story.

Open Doors Photo Prize group exhibition
This series of photogravures and silver gelatin prints traces the arc of hand-crafted image-making, from the alchemy of light on film to the tactile depth of the final print. Figures, objects, and garments emerge in surreal compositions that blur reverie and performance, evoking the disquieting beauty of chance encounters and dreamlike juxtapositions. Each frame offering suspended moments that invite the viewer to wander through mystery, intimacy, and impossibility.
